The RBD Community is a vibrant and proactive network for helping organisations do more business in rail.
Created specifically to meet the needs of organisations serving the rail sector, RBD Community is designed to allow businesses to connect, collaborate, network and learn.
We pride ourselves on the relationships we hold with key industry partners and stakeholders – both in the UK and overseas and includes:
University of Birmingham, BCRRE (Birmingham Centre for Rail Research and Innovation) – The RBD Community is proud of its collaboration arrangement it holds with the University of Birmingham. Following the acquisition of the Rail Alliance by Rail Business Daily, this provides a level of continuity and a wealth of engagement and innovation opportunities for the entire RBD Community.
The University of Birmingham and the RBD Community will also collaborate on delivering a series of high-quality rail industry themed events each year, in addition to supporting the University with its SME support programmes.
We are also delighted to take up residence in the UKRRIN building at the University of Birmingham to provide us with a UK central location.
Achilles – In December 2021, Achilles and RBD Community joined forces to offer rail companies an unrivalled service solution that provides significant competitive advantage benefits, in addition to an opportunity to do more business in rail.
This partnership offers members a one-off discounted price to access an extensive range of Achilles and RBD products and services, bringing together different streams of work in one cost effective package. It also offers RBD Community members a significant opportunity to access cross sector markets outside of transport such as utilities and construction.
Bringing people together for collaboration, network, share knowledge and make high quality connections.
Our events programme is carefully put together to reflect the current industry topics and with our extensive network of connections, we are fortunate enough to have a high calibre of speakers at our events.
In addition to our own events, we also collaborate with the University of Birmingham to deliver a bespoke events programme as well as with our colleagues in the RBD Advisory team.
The RBD Community has a healthy following on both its LinkedIn and Twitter accounts and complements the www.railbusinessdaily.com social media channels.
The benefits of being attached to the UKs largest rail media business is something we take maximum advantage of on behalf of our members in addition to our own newsletters and community communication activities.
Being a member of the RBD Community puts you at the forefront of information and market intelligence. Communicating insights and opportunities is a key benefit of being part of the community to ensure that you are always one step ahead.
If you are exporting or looking to develop an internationalisation strategy, we can support you. Our international network includes organisations as well as supporting bodies including the very effective European Rail Clusters Initiative (ERCI).
We also work closely with the trade associations – especially the Railway Industry Association and the Department of Industry and Trade to offer you the most effective advice and support available.
It’s easy to miss a new funding or grant opportunity which is why our partner relationships are so important as they help us to keep you informed of the opportunities. In addition to this, our RBD Advisory team can connect you to investors and venture capitalists who are looking for the next rail business opportunity to grow.
When you join the RBD Community, you join a network of expertise and support. We actively encourage our members to support each other and encourage members to use the online networking platform to post questions and advice.
For extensive tools and resources, the portal provides an invaluable source of useful information in addition to access to the RBD Community team who is always on hand to answer any questions you may have.
We understand that rail is rarely the only sector our members serve. This is why we align ourselves with organisations such as Achilles and also trade associations and bodies from other sectors.
If there is an opportunity to take advantage of in the wider transport opportunities, utilities, construction or even facilities management – we have it covered!
